Welcome to the School of Business!  Myrtle Beach College seeks to equip men and women with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist churches, non-profit and other organizations with the need for proper business management, general administration, proper financial record keeping, management, and planning.

In this school, there are two majors that can be obtained:  Business and Accounting.


Students who graduate with a major in Business will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of modern business practices and the challenges businesses face in a competitive marketplace.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of business communication and to develop skills in writing effective business letters, messages and reports.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts and principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature, scope, and key concepts of business law.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of organization and management including planning, leading, organizing, and motivating.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and dynamics of non-profit organizations and the importance of good management within them.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and process of starting a small business.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of major concepts and important themes in organizational behavior.
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts and principles of marketing.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of the goals and strategies of internet marketing.
  11. ​Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and scope of international business.
  12. Demonstrate an understanding of the design and functions of business information systems.
  13. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of human resource management and contemporary issues in this field.
  14. Demonstrate an understanding of ethical principles as applied to business and business social responsibility.


Students who graduate with a major in Accounting will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles and processes of accounting.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the conceptual framework of accounting as it relates to recording, reporting, and disclosing financial information on the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of accounting theory and principles for recording and reporting all classes of liabilities and equity components.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the important concepts of financial accounting for non-profit organizations.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and processes of financial and managerial accounting.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature, use and benefits of Accounting Information Systems.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of major ethical issues related to business and accounting. 
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of concepts and processes of individual and business taxation.
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and processes of auditing.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of several specialized areas of advanced accounting.
